Soft Touch Holly is a live outdoor evergreen shrub with a compact shape and finely textured, glossy green foliage. The leaves show a subtle silver midvein for added detail, and inconspicuous blooms develop into black berries that last through winter. Its smaller mature size makes it easy to place as an accent, along a border, or in foundation, container, and mass plantings for season-long structure and color. Plant in a hole twice as wide as the pot, with the top of the root ball 1/2 in above ground level, and use rich, well-drained soil mixed with native soil. This low-maintenance variety can be fed with a slow-release granular acidic fertilizer in spring.
- Matures to about 2-3 ft high and 2-3 ft wide for a compact landscape footprint.
- Hardy in USDA Zones 5-9.
- Grows in partial sun.
- Prefers well-drained soil that is high in organic matter.
- Water weekly, and use a slow-release granular acidic fertilizer in spring.
- Landscape plant; blooms may be inconspicuous.
