| Issue | Several sources mention that the biography, while valuable for its firsthand accounts, omits details about Jane Austen's life due to Victorian sensibilities. Specifically, it glosses over details such as the existence of Jane's handicapped brother George, the theft trial of her Aunt Leigh-Perrot, and hints of romantic attachments. The family's decision to omit these details shaped the narrative and created an incomplete picture of Jane Austen's life. |
